Day 206 – Fate – Where It Ends

“You think it’s true?”

“What part?”

“All of it?”

He shrugs his shoulders and smiles, “I believe what I can see, I believe what I can feel, so, yeah, I think it’s all true, even the bullshit parts.”

“Bullshit parts? It’s all bullshit parts, but that doesn’t stop what we’re seeing  does it?”

“I know, that’s why I said it’s all true, even the bullshit parts, I was making a point that there are bullshit parts, I mean, have you fucking read it?”

“Who hasn’t? It was part of growing up, everyone read it at least once, or, at least, was told the story, but, up until now, that’s all it was, a fucking story, one of the biggest fiction books of all time, totally unbelievable, yet, here we are, watching this shit happen, right in front of us.”

“I know, so, what do we do?”

“We’ll we start fucking changing our ways, become better people.”

“Why? A what do you mean, better people? I didn’t think we were bad.”

“That’s the thing, our standards are nothing now, everything we have to compare our lives to is that fucking book, because, it’s all real, and honestly, if part of it is real, then, well, maybe it’s all real.”

“Yeah, well, that’s a given, I already said it was.”

“Yeah but who are you? You’re no golden scribe, no saint, you’re just like me, a nobody, wanna be, who has done nothing for anyone else except themselves their whole life, you know, what if that’s not good enough.”

“Shit man, your reading way too much into this.”

“Am I? Really?”

“Yeah, you are. So, why don’t you just take a step back, then, take a deep breath, and chill the fuck out. Whatever happens from here on in, we do the right thing, we say please, and thank you, we don’t ignore others who need help and above all, we be kind to others.”

“Okay, but, don’t you think it’s too late, don’t you think we’ve already been judged?”

“Nah man, he starts his list each year, we still got heaps of time to recover and get off the naughty list.”

People are surprised when reading Matthew’s stories that he’s a sane forty something year old, happily married, father of one, employed full time and dream of dark disturbing things that any sane person would never even contemplate thinking of. But it's true, he’s toyed with writing for most of his adult life, but has always found the peg a writer must fit into is not the shape he wished to be. His writing can be described as lamenting, long, concussive (yes it smashes you in the head), compulsive, and stuffed with rhythmic communication and violence, let’s not forget the violence. His own opinion on his writing is this, “You see, I don't just want the words to seep into your mind, but into your soul, showing you images of blood and beauty through, volatile language, violence, sex, love and sin. My muse takes different shapes, and every now and then you can see her shining her wicked smile in some of my stories, tempting you with her promises, but ripping your heart out instead.” So have a look, and take a seat in my wayward ride, as you join me while I purge through, this twisted road of madness.
